Pick Up
- Make sure that the vehicle is large enough to fit the cabinets without damaging
- Bring lots of blankets! We only wrap our cabinets with shrink wrap when it is a local delivery or a pick up. We also use blankets to transport them when we do our deliveries.
- Give us 1 hour notice before you come to pick up your cabinets. We are happy to provide a helping hand.
- Please inspect the cabinets before loading. Any damage reported afterwards will not be covered under warranty.
Installation
We highly recommend hiring a professional installer as that will ensure that the cabinets are properly secured. This is an investment that will expand the lifetime of your cabinets. We sell higher quality cabinets, and they require proper tools and installation.
Recommendations:
- Make sure you have the proper equipment to do the job. For example: table saw, circular saw, jig saw, fine blades for finished cabinetry, laser level, wood shims, driver, drill, tape measure, screws, etc.
- Always make sure there is no plumbing or electrical in the area that you will screw your cabinets.
- Because all our backs are thick, you can screw them directly into studs with the proper length of cabinet screws (with a large head). A common length is 2.5" to 3”, but this depends on your specific case. (We do not provide the screws, as each installation is unique.)
- Sometimes it is a good idea to screw the cabinets together before screwing them into the walls. We recommend using 1.25" cabinet screws for this purpose.
- Do not forget to level your cabinets!
- If you have any finished ends you will need the proper tools and technique to scribe them to the wall and/or floors. There are many ways to scribe to a wall and here is one way to scribe.

Disclosure: We strongly recommend that all products be installed by a licensed and insured professional cabinetry installer. MKE Cabinetry is not responsible for any damage, injuries or installation errors resulting from DIY installations. This includes, but is not limited to, inaccurate measurements, improper anchoring to wall studs, or damage to the cabinets, walls, or surrounding property during the installation process.
How to Take Care of Your New MKE Cabinets
- Constant light cleanup is the best approach.
- Use a microfiber cloth with a small amount of warm water to wipe out any stains.
- Do not use any chemicals on your cabinets.
- We recommend paying special attention to cleaning trash pullouts, sink cabinets and hood cabinets for water damage or grease marks.
Cabinet Installation by MKE Cabinetry: What to Expect
- We offer cabinet installation to our Design Services clients within 60 miles of our Butler, Wisconsin shop.
- Give yourself plenty of time to pack and move any items that may be in the way of our crew. This may include pictures/decor on the wall as well. Also, consider packing up items in adjacent rooms that may be in the way of our crew entering/exiting your home. Our MKE Cabinetry install crew may need space in nearby rooms to store products and tools depending on the size of the project.
- On “Day 1” of Install you should expect your project to start at 7:30am. We ask you to give us a house key to secure in a lock box. Our team will use the key to enter and lock up when they leave. Work will be completed generally between the hours of 7:30am and 6pm and you can expect our crew to be in and out during those hours. A typical kitchen can be installed in 3-6 working days.
- The day we start your job, there will be safety hazards all over the place. The rooms we are working in will have nails, sharp blades, etc. If you enter the install area please wear shoes and be very careful!
- At the end of your project, there may be “punch list items” we need to complete. A door may need adjusting, one of the drawer pulls needs to be tightened. These take the longest and can be very frustrating when you want your project done. We want to complete the project too. Please be patient when it comes to the last few items that need to be taken care of. We will get them done as soon as we possibly can.
