General Finishing Information
- Our standard wall cabinet bottoms are UV coated, not finished. They can be finished with an upcharge.
- Visible edges of a box, door or exposed shelf will be finished in the same paint or stain as the finished faces.
- The non-visible edges of the box will be finished with a matching PVC color.
- Our finishes are water based which is highly durable and more environmentally friendly than oil based products.
Painted Finishes
- Painted items have two coats of primer and one coat of paint with sanding before every step.
- Our standard sheen is 10-20%, in other words, dull.
- If you choose a Paint Finish on one of our wood frame doors, our standard wood for these doors is white maple.
Stained Finishes
- Stained items are first stained and sealed and then two coats of clear topcoat with sanding between each coat.
- Color Variations – Different wood species have varying densities and grain patterns, leading to unique stain absorption, color outcomes and color variations. Color variations, even within the same species and stain color should be expected and is not considered to be a defect.
- Wood Cut – Our standard wood cut is Plain/Flat Sawn. The type of cut is determined by the way the trunk of a tree is sliced, creating distinctive markings according to the direction it is sliced. Plain/flat sawn is an attractive yet economical cut on all our wood species. If you want a different cut, speak with a designer.
Unfinished Materials
- Unfinished Interior – If you select an”Unfinished” interior, the birch plywood cabinet parts will have a UV coating.
- Unfinished Paint Grade Doors – If your doors are “Unfinished”, the frame will be raw white maple and the center panel will be raw MDF. You need to finish the doors before use.
- Unfinished Stain Grade Doors – If your wood doors are “Unfinished” the frame will be the wood species of your choice, and the center panel will be Veneer MDF. You need to finish the doors before use.
